Foundation & Basement Excavation
Foundation and Basement Excavation in Bozeman
Getting the hole right is what keeps a foundation square, dry, and stable. Canyoufeedthedog digs footings, crawl spaces, and full basements to the plan depth and dimension, with over-dig for the forms and a level, compacted bearing surface for the concrete. On tighter in-town lots around Cooper Park, careful spoil management keeps the site workable while the excavation is open.
Why Depth and Bearing Matter
- True elevations. We dig to the plan depth so the footing sits at the right elevation and the finished floor lands where the drawings say.
- Solid bearing. The bottom of the dig is cleaned and compacted so the footing rests on undisturbed or engineered ground, not loose spoil.
- Water control. We plan for the seasonal water table and keep the excavation draining while the foundation goes in.
Our Process
We stake the footprint, strip and stockpile spoil, and excavate to plan depth with over-dig for forms and drainage. Any cut 5 feet deep or more gets OSHA Subpart P protection with sloping, benching, or a trench box. Once the concrete cures we backfill in lifts and compact to spec so nothing settles against the wall.
